Wincanton Town Council – RFO & Committee Clerk

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual, with relevant experience, to join the team at Wincanton Town Council as a Responsible Finance Officer and Committee Clerk. The role will compliment that of the Town Clerks supporting an ambitious town council.

Wincanton is a Market town situated in the southeast corner of Somerset (close to the Wiltshire and Dorset borders). The Council presently employs a team of 6 members of staff and has 15 active Councillors.

The role will be responsible for the Councils finances and accountable for the effective management of these finances and records so experience in this area is essential.

 

As a Committee Clerk you will provide advice to the committee on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. Provide effective administrative support to the committee and ensure all decisions are actioned.  You will also prepare agendas, attend meetings and take minutes.

 

You will be confident and professional with excellent administrative skills and a flexible ‘can-do’ attitude.

The successful applicant will ideally hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration or be willing to obtain this qualification which the Council will pay for.

The post is for up to 15 hours per week, based at the Town Council’s office. Some evening work will be required to attend committee meetings.

Subject to experience the pay will be in the range NCJ SCP 37 to 41 (£40,876 to £44, 863) pro rata. You will be entitled to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
