VACANCY for Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer

Applications are invited for the role of Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) for Whatley Parish Council, Frome, Somerset.

The post is part-time, around 4 hours per week, with a start date of 1 April 2021. The salary will be as per the national recommended scale for part-time Clerks (NALC LC1 SP5) £10.04 per hour, plus travel expenses.

The successful candidate will be expected to handle the agendas, formal minutes and correspondence of the Council, as well as bookkeeping and PAYE for the accounts. Attendance at the evening meetings of the Council is a requirement of the position – generally the fourth Wednesday bi-monthly.

Experience of local government administrative practices would be helpful, however, training can be provided through the Somerset Association of Local Councils (SALC).
