Wedmore Parish Council – Clerk & RFO

Wedmore Parish Council seeks a new Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer for an estimated 22 hours per week, working both from home and the parish council office in Wedmore. The role is paid at the NALC SCP Scale LC2, with starting salary range £14.90 to £18.58 per hour depending on experience.

The ideal candidate will be interested in the local community, enjoy meeting people, and have a desire to help the parish develop, including to achieve its Net Zero goals. Able to work on their own initiative, the candidate will have excellent literacy, numeracy and communication skills together with a good understanding of IT.

 

The successful candidate is not required to have local government experience, training will be available.

The Clerk/RFO role duties include but are not limited to  -

  • Attending and administering Parish Council meetings held every month on a Wednesday evening at the Parish Council office and other Parish committee Meetings – such as planning etc also held at the Parish council office on a Wednesday evening.
  • Maintaining the Parish Council website via a third party.
  • Keeping accounts and complying with all aspects of financial administration of the Council including HMRC records and VAT claims.
  • Dealing with correspondence and phone enquiries from parishioners, councillors and third parties.
