We are interested in hearing from applicants with a good working knowledge and understanding of local government structure and practices. It is likely that you will already have achieved a Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) qualification, although candidates with relevant experience who are working towards this qualification are also invited to apply.
You will be able to demonstrate the essential administrative and bookkeeping/financial management skills required to successfully fulfil the roles of Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer.
In this role you will engage with a variety of stakeholders both within the local community and across other tiers of local government, through various forms of communication and face to face meetings; helping to raise the profile of the council within the community. Ideally, we’re looking for a confident public speaker, someone who is calm under pressure and someone with excellent literacy and IT skills.
The job involves attending meetings of Tatworth and Forton Parish Council and its committees, preparing agendas, taking minutes, dealing with correspondence, liaising with local contractors other tiers of local government, managing the Parish accounts, helping prepare the annual budget, organising audits, keeping the website up to date and looking after the Council’s assets which include amenity land, cemetery and allotments.
This post is for 12 hours per week, paid pro rata (Currently under review and will be benchmarked according to the NJC payscales). A workplace pension is provided.
