Salary: Initial salary £24,982 rising to £27,741 (pro rata) subject to qualifications and performance and based on the NALC Pay Scale 18 to 23

Pension: The People’s Pension Scheme

Hours: 20 hours per week (plus overtime when necessary) to include some evening and occasional weekend work

Length of contract: Permanent

Holiday: 25 days per annum (pro rata) plus bank holidays

Place or work: The Market House, Martock TA12 6AL

Martock Parish Council is a pro-active Parish Council, working with the local community to provide services including allotments, a cemetery, recreation area, public conveniences and car parks.

Applications are invited for a Deputy Parish Clerk.  The successful candidate will play a key role in the administration of the Council providing support for meetings and Parish Council events. This is a busy and varied role, responding to enquiries from members of the public, working with contractors and updating the Parish Council’s website with the integration of social media. Knowledge of cemetery and allotments administration, finance processes (currently using excel) and experience in minute taking would be an advantage.

The successful applicant will have, or be willing to work to obtain, the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CILCA). The ideal person will be sociable and affable; self-motivated and able to maintain good relationships with employees, council members, contractors and the public. A willingness to learn new skills would be welcome, as would an interest in the work of the council and the community.
