Somerset Association of Local Councils – Health and Wellbeing Officer

Somerset Association of Local Councils Ltd

Health and Wellbeing Officer (37 hours a week, 3 year fixed-term contract)

Working in partnership with Somerset County Council, the Somerset Association of Local Councils (SALC) is seeking to recruit a talented Health and Wellbeing Officer to lead our pioneering health and wellbeing programme for town and parish councils in Somerset.

Our aim is to help improve the health and wellbeing of Somerset’s population by providing training and support to parish, town and city councils; to strengthen the local council sector and further improve strategic engagement between the voluntary and public sectors. You will also be administering a grant programme, providing over £700,000 of support to the local council sector over the next three years.

You will be leading our programme from the outset, working alongside a small but highly experienced team of local council professionals. SALC provides training, advice and support to over 260 town, parish and city councils across the county and wishes to expand its membership offer as we continue to emerge from the pandemic and see local government reorganisation taking shape in Somerset.

If you already have experience and a track record of delivery in either local government or public health, then this could be the role for you. In return, we will offer a competitive salary (£34,373 - £36,371 pa) and a supportive and flexible working environment.
