Temporary Cover Possibly Leading to a Permanent Position for Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO)

Shepton Beauchamp Parish Council is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to provide temporary cover for the position of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) with immediate effect on appointment until the end of July 2020, but also with the possibly of leading to a permanent position.
As a temporary appointment, this post would suit an applicant with current experience in the duties of a Parish Clerk & RFO, but it is also open to all applicants interested in taking up this position on a permanent basis. The work is for 4 – 6 hours a week, working from home. Rates of Pay will be based on NALC & SLCC salary scales for a Part Time Clerk subject to experience and open to negotiation.
The roll involves the management of all Parish Council administration, including the preparation of agendas and minutes, attendance at Parish Council meetings (which are held on a monthly basis in the evening), implementing actions and decisions taken by the Parish Council and dealing with correspondence, as well as the preparation of budgets, financial record keeping, arrangements for audit and updating of the Parish Council website.
Good communication and IT skills are essential, as is the ability to work with other people as well as self-managing your own time. The Clerk is the Council's adviser on all aspects of its role, which requires sound judgement and discretion.
The closing date for applications is 15th August 2019 with interviews taking place in Shepton Beauchamp on a date to be advised between 16 – 19 August 2019. The next Parish Council Meeting is to be held on 16 September 2019.
