We are delighted to offer a challenging and varied role. In this position you will assume the roles of both Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer and will work with the Parish Council to help us make and implement decisions, advising on a broad range of matters to ensure we operate lawfully and within the scope of our own policies and procedures. The Parish Council currently meets bi-monthly.
You will fulfil administrative and statutory requirements and in the role of RFO you will manage the council’s finances.
We are interested in hearing from applicants with a good working knowledge and understanding of local government structure and practices. It is likely that you will already have achieved a Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) qualification, although candidates with relevant experience who are working towards this qualification are also invited to apply.
You will be able to demonstrate the essential administrative and bookkeeping/financial management skills required to successfully fulfil the roles of Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer.
In this role you will engage with a variety of stakeholders both within the local community and across other tiers of local government, through various forms of communication and face to face meetings; helping to raise the profile of the council within the community. Ideally, we’re looking for a confident public speaker, someone who is calm under pressure and someone with excellent literacy and IT skills.
The role is offered on a 12 hour per week contract with some flexibility as to when these hours are worked. The salary is benchmarked according to the NJC pay scale, SCP 16-20 pro rata (from £12.15 to £13.15 per hour) subject to qualifications and experience and reviewed annually.
