Buckland St Mary Parish Council is looking for a new Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer for an average of 7 hours per week, mostly home based, paid at the appropriate point on the NALC SCP Scale, depending on qualifications and experience.
The ideal candidate will be interested in the local community, enjoy meeting people, and have a desire to help the community; have excellent literacy, numeracy, communication and IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft systems; be happy with flexible home-based working, and able to work on his or her own initiative.
The Clerk/RFO role duties include -
- Attending and administering Parish Council meetings held every month on a Thursday evening (no scheduled meetings in August and December) and occasional ad hoc planning meetings.
- Maintaining the Parish Council website via a third party.
- Keeping accounts and complying with all aspects of financial administration of the Council including HMRC records and VAT claims, and the production of final year-end accounts and audit submission.
- Dealing with correspondence and phone enquiries from parishioners, councillors and third parties.
