Information Governance (Privacy, Security, Sharing & Transparency) – Practical guidance on how to apply the Law
There has been a recent sharp increase in public sector organisations being targeted by cyber criminals as they process valuable personal data on their citizens. Are you comfortable that your council is applying appropriate security to that data? Are you aware of the penalties and risks for not doing so? Do you worry about things like ransomware?
Have you ever had a tricky information request where you are unsure where to start, what to disclose, and how to disclose!?
These are some of the concerns raised by public sector organisations.
Information is the lifeblood of public services. However, complex legislation governs information which often leaves organisations unsure about the different areas of compliance relevant to them. This session will cover the 3 elements of good information governance:
- Records Management (including Transparency Code),
- Data Protection (including security/privacy), and
- Freedom of Information.
It will provide attendees with valuable knowledge in these three areas, but more importantly practical tips and guidance on how to apply these in your parish/town councils in a manner which will ensure compliance with legislation, and comfort that you have satisfied your statutory requirements.
The session will be led by Robert Long, Information Security lead at Audit West.
Price: £45 for SALC members and £100 for non-members.
